THE SITUATION.
The Fair Palace of Girona, Fira de Girona, lies in the Parc of the Dehesa, natural citizen park that also, and right next to it, is the Auditorium and Congress Palace of the city, forming a set in which the events are held in the city.
Also within walking distance are the two jewels of the modernist city: the building la Punxa and the Harinera Teixidor, masterpiece of the architect Rafael Masó i Valentí (1880-1935).
FIRA DE GIRONA.
The Institució Firal de Girona, the Girona trade fair institution, was set up in 1984 in the city of Girona. This official, non profit-making body is legally constituted with all the powers necessary to pursue its ends.
Girona city council, the Girona chamber of commerce, industry and navigation, Girona provincial authority and the trade, tourism and consumption department of the Generalitat (autonomous government) of Catalonia are the institutional backers.
The goals of the Fira are to promote and stimulate trade, industry and the services required of it, to expand commercial exchanges by creating and co-ordinating trade fair-type activities of all kinds, including both general trade fairs and industry-specific or thematic fairs and shows.
1988 saw the official opening of the Palau de Fires de Girona, the Girona exhibition centre, work on which was completed on 3rd June 1989.
In accordance with the 1994 act governing trade fairs, from 19th March 1998 onwards the trade fair institution became the Fundació Privada Fira de Girona, a private foundation run by a board and an executive committee.
Today, the drive and dynamism of Fira de Girona are proof that it is meeting its goals. It currently has 14 trade fairs, 7 of them organised by the Fira itself, 4 together with partners and 3 externally organised, as well as a variety of other activities.
It is therefore fair to say that Fira de Girona is the right venue for your success.
